The Orange Foundation’s “Villages” program has so far been deployed in a hundred locations in 13 countries, providing nearly 500,000 beneficiaries with access to services that are essential for human development (water, health and education).
Since 2014, we have invested over €8 million to benefit the poorest populations.
The purpose of the program is to install one - or more - sources of drinking water, a first aid health center and a primary school in each of the villages that have identified these three areas as essential for their local development. The initiative was supplemented in 2019 by other investments, such as establishing a power supply for the infrastructure or helping the populations to create income-generating activities (market gardening, crafts, etc.).
We are launching a new call for projects for the "2022 Villages and Maternal and Child Health" program, exclusively reserved for Orange foundations and subsidiaries (in partnership with NGOs and local or international service-providing associations), in the following countries: Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Jordan, Liberia, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Tunisia.
This year, the "Villages and Maternal and Child Health" program will help create new villages in new locations and/or improve existing infrastructure and services in the aforementioned countries (infrastructure, equipment, consumables, services, etc.).
The main actions proposed by the partners must remain focused on providing access to water, healthcare or education. These actions may be supplemented by projects providing access to energy, as well as initiatives to create income-generating activities (market gardening, personal and household services, crafts, etc.) for people without any income.
The projects can either benefit the entire population or more specifically address maternal and child health issues affecting women and children in new and existing Orange Villages.
The 2022 call for projects therefore focuses on creating new villages and/or also improving the program in existing villages by:
- maintaining and developing drinking water points (water conveyance)
- equipping and/or extending health centers and/or schools
- providing electricity for health centers, schools and other public infrastructure
- creating new infrastructure and activities in addition to water, health and education (canteens, electrification, income-generating activities, educational leisure activities, etc.)
- creating activities that generate lasting revenue
The maximum funding for each project will be €75,000.
Submit your applications online until midnight October 14th, 2022.
Complete the online questionnaire and submit the description of your project including the itemised budget and the implementation schedule
The applications will be reviewed and then examined by the members of a selection committee made up of people from inside and outside Orange.
The selection committee meeting will be held in November 2022.
