My name is Ruth, and I’m 39. I live in Bingerville, a district of Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. I am a single mother with one child.
My career path
I have worked as a baker for a long time. I trained in the field and I received a vocational diploma, proving my skills with a qualification. Unfortunately I do not have a kitchen to do my job properly, and a friend is lending me her kitchen at the moment. But this is not a long-term solution.
My dream
I have dreamt of opening a bakery in Abidjan for 5 years. For this project, I learned a lot about business: writing a business plan, accounting... Thanks to the Women’s Digital Centre, I also received training in digital technology, so that i can be more effective with administrative tasks! The Amazing Women Award grant will help me to pay rent for a building and buy equipment to launch my business! Over time, I would like the bakery to become well-known, and to share my knowledge with other women.
